Across Ukraine, Thousands Say ‘No to Capitulation’
Protests were held in 30 cities across Ukraine as well as outside the country
Angry over the agreement by the Ukrainian government to the Steinmeier formula, thousands of Ukrainians took to the streets to protest on October 6, 2019.
In Kyiv, around 10,000 people flooded Maidan Square. Smaller protests were held across Ukraine, and around the world.
According to lviv1256 in Lviv, more than a thousand locals gathered near the monument to Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko.
The event kicked off with the mass performance of the national anthem and a moment of silence dedicated to the soldiers and citizen who have perished during the war in Donbas.
In Kharkiv, residents took to Liberty Square for their protest.

People signed a petition that the activists plan to deliver to President Zelensky.
The Square of the Heavenly Hundred was the site for more than 300 people chanting ‘No to Capitulation’ in Vinnytsia.

In Dnipro, people assembled at the walls of the State Regional Administration.
In the native city of the Ukrainian President, Kryvyi Rih, people took to the streets as well.
In total, people in more than 30 cities around Ukraine and abroad went to various protests.
The speech by President Zelensky, which explained the importance of the Steinmeier formula, didn’t little to satisfy the people who fear that it is nothing more than a capitulation to Russia.
