Ukrainian Police Officer Wrestles Victory in Rome
Taras Hubarenko was named World Champion in the Low-Kick section

A Ukrainian police officer was named World Champion in the Low-Kick section of the ICO Wrestling Championship in Rome, Italy.
The officer, Taras Hubarenko, is part of a special police battalion called “Luhansk-1,” based in the Luhansk region.
“From Nov. 2 to Nov. 4 the ICO World Championship lasted in Rome. This championship is one of the most prestigious sports competitions gathering and uniting highly professional wrestlers from all over the world. A policeman from the special police battalion in Luhansk region Taras Hubarenko, participated in this year’s competition,” the head of the police department of Luhansk region the head of the Luhansk regional police department, Tatyana Pohukay wrote on Facebook.
Hubarenko got awards in two sections. In the Low-Kick section, he competed with an Irishman, Brazilian and a Mongol to become the undisputed world champion. In the Light Contact section in the final sparring, Taras lost to the Swiss champion and took second place in his weight class.
