In Canada, the possibility of allowing citizens of Ukraine to enter using the pre-electronic authorization system is being considered.
“One of the most important pieces news is that Canada offered to join the Trusted Travelers program. This simplifies the procedure for those traveling to Canada. We regard this as a first step towards further abolition of visas,” Ukraine’s Ambassador to Canada Andriy Shevchenko said.
Ukrainians who received a visa over the past 10 years would be eligible to use the system.
“We had a very productive meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky. I left it with a big victory for my voters: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made commitments to allow Ukrainians to visit Canada with a previous electronic authorization,” said Canadian MP from the Liberal Party, Mariana Migaychuk
The deputy said that she had previously submitted to Parliament several petitions about the need to simplify the visa regime for Ukrainians.
Representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora, in particular the Congress of Ukrainians in Canada, propose introducing travel rules for Ukrainians , similar to those that apply to citizens of Brazil.
Since 2017, Brazilians, who have been granted a Canadian tourist visa for the past 10 years, can receive only electronic authorization for their next trips to Canada, which is issued online in a few minutes and costs $7.
