The new arch over the destroyed reactor number four at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant is now officially operational. This was reported on the Facebook page of Government Portal.
The new enclosure is built primarily from stainless steel and has an expected lifespan of several hundred years. Inside the enclosure is a crane and other machinery to help with the removal of the old, decrepit enclosure and other parts of the destroyed reactor so they can be processed and properly disposed of.
