Crimean Court to Consider Appeal for Memedeminov
Crimean journalist and blogger Nariman Memedeminov was arrested on March 23 by Russian law enforcement
On Jan. 11, the Supreme court of the annexed Crimea will consider an appeal to the arrest of Crimean blogger and journalist Nariman Memedeminov.
On March 23, the Simferopol District Court, which was controlled by the Russian Federation, arrested the Crimean Tatar activist. Before that, Russian police searched his house, the public association “Crimean solidarity” reported.
During the last trial, held on Dec. 12, 2018, Russia’s Simferopol District Court decided to remand Memedeminov in a detention facility until Feb. 18.
The blogger’s lawyer asked that Memedeminov be moved to house arrest, but the prosecutor and the investigator asked the judge to refuse the lawyer’s application.
