Ukrainian director of Crimean Tatar origin Akhtem Seitablayev – who made films such as Cyborgs, Haytarma, and 87 Children – plans to film a military drama about the legendary raid of the 95th Brigade in the summer of 2014 in Donbas.
“In general, I thought that I would no longer make films on the theme of modern war,” Akhtem Seitablayev told Ukrinform.
But ultimately, he found the story too compelling.
As with Cyborgs, the film will be based on soldiers’ actual memories, Seitablayev said.
“We again want to build a film based on real people’s real memories. But all of this needs to be formalized in a drama, which will have all the signs of dramaturgical architecture with a beginning, plot, development, climax and, in fact, with a denouement. We are just working to find the core that we will build around, ” the director said.
Before the shooting commences, Seitablayev plans to meet with the fighters of the 95th Brigade, commander of the assault troops Mikhail Zabrodsky, and many others.
