Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Danylyuk met with US Senators Ronald Johnson and Chris Murphy. They discussed security challenges in the Central-Eastern region, threats of implementing the Nord Stream 2 project and other issues.
The NSDC head posted this information on his Facebook page.
“I’ve had a pleasant and productive meeting today with US Senators Ronald Johnson and Chris Murphy. We’ve discussed important issues of Ukraine’s military and political cooperation with the United States, security challenges in the Central-Eastern region, strengthening sanctions against the Russian Federation, possible expansion of Ukraine’s comprehensive support in the sphere of security and defense,” reads the post.
According to Danylyuk, the parties also discussed the threats of the Nord Stream 2 project, which is “another trap of Russia’s hybrid tools, which threatens the energy security of all of Europe.”
US Senators Chris Murphy and Ronald Johnson, who were recently banned from entering Russia, arrived on an official visit to Ukraine on September 5, 2019.
Senators Johnson and Murphy are members of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and are critics of current Kremlin policies.
