Donbas’ Ceasefire Regime Does not Imply Counter-Fire Ban
The termless cease-fire in Donbas begins on Sunday
Ukraine’s representative to the Tripartite Contact Group (TCG) Roman Bezsmertnyi said that the ceasefire regime in the Donbas, coming into force on Sunday (July 21), does not imply a ban on a counter-fire.
“Do not confuse ‘the cessation of any fire’ with ‘fire in return.’ There’s nothing more precious than human life! And if the enemy violates the ‘silence regime,’ it will receive an adequate response. From a similar weapon,” he said, Novosti Donbasa reported.
“Or ceasefire is respected by all sides, and silence comes. Or, in the event of a disturbance of silence, a fire will be opened,” Bezsmertnyi said.
The new ceasefire agreement was reached on Wednesday.
