Election Silence Day in Ukraine
Campaigning is prohibited today
Today is Election Silence Day in Ukraine.
Ukraine holds a day free of campaigning the day before elections – in this case, the parliamentary elections to be held Sunday (July 21) – to provide people with time to solemnly contemplate.
The day is officially designated by Article 70 of the law ‘On Elections of People’s Deputies of Ukraine.’
Mass actions, meetings, rallies, demonstrations on behalf of parties or candidates is also prohibited.
