The Embassy of Ukraine in Switzerland expressed its support for captive Ukrainian sailors who are currently detained by the Russian Federation.
“The Embassy of Ukraine in Switzerland expressed support for Ukrainian sailors – prisoners of war in the Russian Federation, who were attacked, fired and captured on November 25, 2018, in neutral waters near the Kerch Strait,” the press service of the embassy of Ukraine in Switzerland reported.
The embassy recalled on its website that “On January 15, 2019, the Russian court in Moscow neglecting the principles of international law of human right extended the illegal pre-trial detention of all 24 Ukrainian sailors.”
“We call on all partners to support the Ukrainian sailors,” the report reads.
Russian-controlled courts in the annexed Crimea arrested 24 Ukrainian sailors for two months. All they were taken to Moscow.
