Football Fans Get Ready to Party in Kyiv for Champions League Final
Some 40,000 foreign football fans are expected to come to the Ukrainian capital for the UEFA Champions League Final.
These fans won’t only be cheering for their teams at Olympiyskyi stadium. There’s also a UEFA Champions Festival Zone opening on Kyiv’s main thoroughfare, Khreshatik. In addition, big screens are opening on Kontraktova Square for fans to watch the game.
The Champions Festival Zone opens on May 24th. On the same day, the Women’s Champions League Final takes place at Dynamo stadium.
The majority of the visiting fans are coming to Kyiv for the big event on Saturday. And football aside, tourists will be looking for things to do in Kyiv so local businesses are trying their best not to miss the boat.
Many Kyivan pubs are expecting an influx of foreign clients eager to watch the games over a pint, or two. For example, Golden Gate Pub says it has become something of a base for Kyiv’s Liverpool fan club. The personnel there are especially proud of their special dress code for the day of the final. They’ll be wearing special jerseys the day of the game.
The Pub said that many fans have already booked reservations in anticipation of the game.
