Users, budget organizations and local heating companies can reduce natural gas consumption by five billion cubic meters [bcm] by 2022.
Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Serhiy Savchuk said this at a press conference, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“Our goal is to reduce consumption by another five billion cubic meters of gas per year by 2022 for all consumer categories,” Savchuk said.
He mentioned that gas consumption in 2018 by users, budget organizations and local heating companies decreased by 6 bcm when compared to 2014. To help reduce gas consumption, about 650,000 residences already carried out measures for thermal modernization.
“Every year. Ukraine saves about €1.2 billion by not spending on gas imports,” Savchuk added.
