The 10th international agricultural exhibition and forum AGROPORT West Lviv 2019 is being held at Lviv Danylo Halytskyi International Airport from March 21 to March 23.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman and Acting Agrarian Policy and Food Minister of Ukraine Olha Trofimtseva attended the opening of the event. This was reported by Ukrinform.
“The opening of the 10th international agricultural exhibition and forum AGROPORT West Lviv 2019 took place today, March 21,” the press service of the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry reported.
AGROPORT is one of the biggest events of the agricultural sector in Eastern Europe. AGROPORT West Lviv 2019 focuses on small and medium farmers. The key topics are animal husbandry, crop production, growing organic products, berries, vegetable-growing, horticulture, fisheries and digitizing of agriculture.
Farmers and owners from Lviv, Volyn, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi and other regions of Ukraine have been invited to participate in the exhibition in Lviv.
The forum is supported by the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine and Lviv Regional State Administration. The organizers are the Department of Agricultural Development of Lviv Regional State Administration and Aviabrand LLC.
As reported by a Ukrinform correspondent at the event, while at the expo, Groysman had this to say about the Ukrainian agricultural sector:
“The share of the agricultural products with processing in Ukrainian finished products is about 17%, of which 12% accounts for raw materials of agro-industrial complex and only 4% for food processing. Our task is to change this system. The agricultural products should account for a quarter of GDP at least. We need to increase the in-depth processing of Ukrainian products.”
Ukrainian agricultural products are available in 190 countries around the world and Ukraine is among the top 7 largest exporters of agricultural products in the world, but its potential is greater, according to Groysman.
The development of the agricultural sector facilitates the acceleration of the economic development and global leadership of Ukraine as now Ukraine is one of the largest exporters of agricultural products in the world, and more than 300 Ukrainian producers have obtained permits to sell their products in the European Union.
“The agro-industrial complex is the driving force of our economy and a guarantor of food security of Ukraine and the world,” Groysman said.
