Two American Island-class patrol boats -given to Ukraine’s navy in September – will join Ukraine’s fleet in July, Ukrainian Military Portal reported.
“We have worked and will continue to work with their (Ukraine’s) Naval Forces. We have good relations with them. And now there is a funding increase that we have been asking Congress for naval assets transfers to Kyiv,” U.S. General Curtis Scaparrotti, Commander-in-Chief of the Joint Allied Forces in Europe said.
Currently, the ships are maintained by the U.S. However, in the near future, Ukrainian crews will be sent for special training to take over the boats.
