Readers of the Guardian newspaper in London were asked to submit their opinions on which world cities offered the best views. Then the Guardian picked the top 10 and published an article listing them, in no particular order, save for one that they considered to be the best, which was in Jaipur, India.

Kyiv made the list. According to a reader named Charlotte, as published in the newspaper:

“Pastel-hued St Andrew’s Church, at the top of a steep hill in the historic Podil district of Kyiv, has wonderful baroque architecture. But what really sets this church apart from the many others is the viewing platform, accessed for a mere 60p [about 20 hrynia, or 75 US cents], which affords magnificent 360-degree views of the city. You can gaze down upon the colourful old houses, domed churches and the cobbled street known as the Andriyivskyy Descent before turning around to discover the river and modern city.”

The 10 cities are:

  • Jaipur India
  • Havana, Cuba
  • Verona, Italy
  • Bergen, Norway
  • Valparaiso, Chile
  • Bilboa, Italy
  • Hanoi, Vietnam
  • New York City, New York
  • Kyiv, Ukraine
  • Cape Town, South Africa
