Language Law Being Considered Today

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Culture and Spirituality will meet today to consider the final version of the draft law “On ensuring the functioning of Ukrainian as a state language.”

Speaker Andriy Parubiy said that the adoption of the bill itself is scheduled for Thursday. He called on “MPs who consider themselves patriots” to vote for the bill.
As Ukrinform reported, the bill was approved at first reading on Oct. 4. The Verkhovna Rada started considering the document at second reading on Feb. 28. Over 2,000 amendments were proposed by lawmakers.
