Maryna Poroshenko: Number of Inclusive Schools Grew by 42%

The number of children who have access to resource centers continues to grow

The number of inclusive schools in Ukraine has grown by 42% and the number of pupils attending them has grown by 51%, according to Maryna Poroshenko. She said this during training on the integrated assessment of children’s needs in institutional care establishments and families, which was held in the city of Zhytomyr, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“The reform of inclusive education in Ukraine is comprehensive and it has support. Impressive results have been achieved thanks to the team of like-minded people, which has been formed over the past years. Only over the last year, the number of inclusive schools has increased by 42% and the number of children with special educational needs attending such schools has grown by 51%,” Maryna Poroshenko said.

Maryna Poroshenko also added that 550 inclusive resource centers currently operate in Ukraine, where modern psychological and pedagogical services are provided to children with special educational needs.
