Medieval Battles in Minsk

Just outside the Belarusian capital of Minsk, a medieval festival took place, bringing historical combat to the round-table as entertainment. Spectators flocked to watch the show

Belarusian re-enactment enthusiasts donned armor, mounted battle horses, aimed bows and arrows, and crossed swords during a medieval history festival on the outskirts of the Belarusian capital of Minsk over the weekend.

Spectators cheered as participants dressed as medieval knights took part in staged melee fights, while others dressed as archers fired on targets with arrows.

“Despite the fact that we are thrashing each other, in fact, we are all very close, we are all friends. To be honest, this movement is not so large, but thank God it is developing at an enviable pace. The quality of the reenactment is improving, it’s getting closer to how it was in the Middle Ages,” a participant named Denis said.

The Era of Knighthood festival was hosted by the Belarusian State Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Lifestyle in the village of Aziartso for the fifth time.
