German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone call, aiming to discuss topics related to the security situations in Syria, Lebanon and on the upcoming gas transit negotiations between the EU, Ukraine, and Russia, DW reported citing German’s government spokesman Steffen Seibert.
The German and Russian leaders also spoke on the perspectives of the scheduled Normandy Four meeting.
According to DW, the Normandy Four meeting was expected to be held back in September but postponed due to claims by the Russian side.
