Ukraine and the European Union (EU) will hold their 20th summit on July 9 in Brussels, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency said on Monday, citing a senior EU official.

During the summit, in addition to reforms in Ukraine, the issue of the state’s accession to the European Energy Union, the EU Customs Union and the Single Digital Market will be considered.

This was stated by the head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, Hugues Mingarelli, during his meeting with Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, the vice prime minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, UNN reported.

“We will have a summit in mid-July, most likely on July 9, and we already know some issues that will be raised for discussion, in addition to the reform processes. The topic raised by your president at the last summit: he called on the EU to consider the possibility of Ukraine joining the European Energy Union, the EU Customs Union and the EU Single Digital Market, and now it is not about joining, but about the association with Schengen. Regarding the three alliances, the commission is currently examining this issue, and therefore, we will most likely discuss this issue in the coming months and at the summit that is to take place,” the EU ambassador explained.

Mingarelli said that the macro-financial aid package of the EU, the European Investment Plan, the fight against corruption in Ukraine, and the implementation of the Minsk agreements would also be discussed.

Further, the Council of the Ukraine-EU Association will be held in December.

The 19th Ukraine-EU Summit was held in Kyiv in July last year. On the eve of the 2017 meeting, the EU adopted the comprehensive Association Agreement with Ukraine, which included a free trade deal and a broad range of legislation and regulation topics.
