New App for Cleaning the Carpathians
Users can identify polluted areas and go on clean-up hikes
Ukrainian software engineers have designed a mobile app for cleaning up the Carpathian Mountains.
With the EcoHike mobile app, users can “add geographical coordinates, descriptions, and photos of polluted places. Marked spots are visible to all users of EcoHike who can consider problematic places alongside their track while hiking or backpacking and join their efforts to clean up these locations,” the app’s creator, GlobalLogic said on its website.
The application is currently valid only in Ukraine, but the developers plan to distribute it abroad.
EcoHike can be downloaded via GooglePlay or the AppStore.
The first group of volunteers has already gone on a clean-up hike to check the app’s effectiveness.
