Oleh Sentsov Writes Short Stories
He's gained back some of the weight that was lost during his 145-day hunger strike and continues to exercise
Ukrainian political prisoner Oleh Sentsov is writing short stories.
Sentsov has been writing stories that may soon be collected into a book, human rights activist Zoya Svetova told RFE/RL.
Furthermore, the Ukrainian film director’s health seems to be improving. Sentsov is regaining some of the weight that he lost when he went on a 145-day hunger strike calling for the release of the Kremlin’s political prisoners.
Svetova said that during her visit with Sentsov, the two discussed a film that’s based on his play “Numbers.”
Excerpts from the film will be shown at the Odesa Film Festival this summer and Senstov has corresponded with the director, Svetova said.
Sentsov asked Svetova what is she thinking about the new president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi. The human rights activist replied that, in her opinion, the new head of state should agree with Russia on the exchange of political prisoners for Russians serving a sentence in Ukraine.
“He just listened, he was interested in this information,” she said.
