Parliament to Dissolve Central Election Commission

The Verkhovna Rada will approve the new composition of the CEC on Sep. 20

The Ukrainian Parliament, with 341 votes, adopted a resolution for the early termination of powers of the Central Election Commission (CEC).

“In accordance with Article 85 of the Constitution of Ukraine and Article 311 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On the Central Election Commission’ and taking into account the motivated submission by the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a decision to terminate the powers of the entire composition of the Central Election Commission before its term ends,” the resolution states.

The resolution comes into force on the same day it’s adopted.

On Sep. 9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky submitted the proposal to the Verkhovna Rada. The Verkhovna Rada will approve the new composition of the CEC on Sep. 20.
