Parliament Votes for Bill on Presidential Impeachment
The new-elected government said that laws on the abolition of parliamentary immunity and on presidential impeachment are urgent
The Ukrainian Parliament passed a bill on presidential impeachment.
In total 337 deputies supported the new impeachment bill, Ukrainskaya Pravda reported.
The draft law said deputies may dismiss the president “only in cases of treason or other crimes.” The impeachment decision shall be considered adopted if 300 deputies vote for it.
On May 29, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky introduced the presidential impeachment bill.
He stated, that the law on the abolition of parliamentary immunity and the law on presidential impeachment are urgent, and they should be considered in the first months of parliament’s work
