Polish Short Film Starring Ukrainian Actress Won Grand Prix at Venice Film Festival

The Polish short film Sashka, directed by Katarzyna Lesisz, won in the international Ca’Foscari Short Film Festival in Venice, Nasze Slowo reports.
Last year, this film won an award at the 43rd Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.
Sashka is a bilingual film that is set in the 1990s. The main character, a young Ukrainian woman named Saszka, receives a message that the man he she had married years ago, in what was actually a sham marriage, had died. The police begin to ask uncomfortable questions and the memories and faces from that time flood back.
The film pays great attention to visual details, including realistic cinematography and sets, and tells the story of finding one’s own way and closing certain chapters in life.
The main role was played by Ukrainian Daria Polunina.
