The situation in Donbas, Navalny’s rights: Merkel, Macron and Putin held fresh talks
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, during a video conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on March 30, called for respect of opposition leader Alexei Navalny’ rights in accordance with the European Convention on Human Rights and stressed the importance of protecting his health. Also during the video-conference the situation in the east of Ukraine was discussed.
This was reported by the press services of the Elysee Palace and the German government, informs DW.
Merkel and Macron pointed out to Putin the need for Russia to fulfill its obligations to stabilize the ceasefire in the region and comply with the Minsk agreements.
The parties also discussed the state of affairs in Belarus, noting the need for an inclusive dialogue for a peaceful solution of the conflict in this country.
Conflicts in Libya and Syria became a separate topic of conversation.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with the leaders of other countries, called for the signing of the International Treaty on the Pandemic.
