Verkhovna Rada condemns forced landing of Ryanair plane in Minsk and detention of Protasevich
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine condemned the actions of the Belarusian authorities regarding the forced landing of the Ryanair passenger company and the detention of Roman Protasevich, and called for the immediate release of Protasevich and all political prisoners.

The Verkhovna Rada approved a resolution “On the statement on the incident with the forced landing of a Ryanair aircraft in Minsk.”
Chairman of the parliament was instructed to ensure the prompt transmission of the text of the statement to the United Nations, the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, national governments and parliaments.
It calls for the immediate release of Roman Protasevich and all political prisoners, demands to stop the arbitrariness and torture used by Belarusian security forces against detained Belarusian citizens, and to guarantee of respect for human rights in accordance with international obligations.
In addition, the Verkhovna Rada called on the International Civil Aviation Organization to investigate the unacceptable act of landing of a passenger plane by the Belarusian authorities with the corresponding consequences for those who committed it.
The Parliament also declares the full support for the action of the Government of Ukraine, which in order to ensure the safety of civil aviation and society introduced a ban on air transportation between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus from May 26 and strengthened “air sanctions” against Belarusian airlines from May 28.
