“We need an increased naval presence of Germany and our allies in the Black Sea as a deterrent to Russia,” said President Petro Poroshenko in an interview with the German Funke Media Group, the president’s press service reports.
“We need a strong, unified, outright reaction to Russia’s aggressive behavior. We have to stop Nord Stream 2. We must now think about new sanctions,” Poroshenko said.
He also added that the time has come for a reaction against Russia, similar to that one that came after the incident in Salisbury, England, when Russian former spy, Sergei Skripal, and his daughter, were seriously poisoned by the Novichok nerve agent.
Poroshenko believes that the European community should bring up measures against Russia and its support for Ukraine at the European Council meeting in Brussels this month.
