Poroshenko Met Stoltenberg in Brussels
The two discussed Ukraine and NATO membership

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels.
Poroshenko thanked Stoltenberg for his consistent consolidated support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as practical assistance in strengthening the country’s defense capability, according to the press office of the president.
Poroshenko stressed the immutability of the legally determined course of Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine, which enjoys strong support in Ukraine.
He expressed hope that the Allies would support the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine, which is ready to start the implementation of the NATO Membership Action Plan today. The parties emphasized the importance of the next NATO Summit in London to set the Euro-Atlantic goals of Ukraine.
The importance of further development of practical cooperation between Ukraine and NATO was also underscored, primarily to enhance security in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. In addition, they stressed the need for increased pressure on Russia to release the captive Ukrainian sailors.
The parties also discussed the issue of preparations to the visit of the North Atlantic Council to Ukraine scheduled for July this year.
Stoltenberg acknowledged the reforms in Ukraine carried out under the leadership of Poroshenko, including the reforms that has brought Ukraine closer to NATO membership.
