During a speech at the All-Ukrainian Public Forum “Open Dialogue,” Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko emphasized that the Russian President Vladimir Putin was seeking to destroy Ukraine. This was reported by his Press Office.
“Putin’s plan is obvious – to destroy an independent Ukrainian state and democracy, deprive Ukrainians of the right to live in peace and security. He clearly realizes that Ukraine is already beyond his capacity. He clearly understands that Ukraine cannot be taken by force. We are already different,” Poroshenko said.
“Thus, he wants to beat us with cunning. For Putin, the elections of 2019 are like a general battle for Ukraine, which he maniacally strives to return,” he said speaking about the presidential election in March and the parliamentary elections in October.
Poroshenko noted that “Russia is trying to interfere in our elections in the same way as it did during the elections in the USA, France, Germany, during the referendums in Britain and the Netherlands.”
“Now they are planning to use these technologies in Ukraine, because their motivation is much higher,” he said, adding that “Ukrainians will not allow that.”
“Ukrainians will not allow [a] Russian agent to get in the office of the Ukrainian President, as it was from 2010 to 2014,” Poroshenko said.
“I want to emphasize that Ukrainians do not need the President and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief who will kneel down in front of the Kremlin. I want to emphasize that Ukrainians do not need the President and Supreme Commander who will flirt or chuckle with Putin. I want to emphasize that Ukrainians do not need the President and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the first signed document of which will be the act of surrender to Moscow. We will not allow that,” Poroshenko summed up emphatically.
