President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the law “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian language as a State language.”
The signing ceremony was shared on the Facebook page of Petro Poroshenko. It was held in presence of the Chairman of Verkhovna Rada, Andriy Parubiy, other members of Ukrainian Parliament and civil society representatives.
The correspondent draft regulation was approved by the total vote of 278 members of Parliament. However, opposition politicians from the “Opposition Block” party registered draft proposals on cancellation of the newly signed law.
Andriy Parubiy immediately signed the law, after Parliament had denounced the opposition draft resolutions, which had blocked his signing.
