Journalists are have been camped out at Kyiv Boryspil airport since the early morning. Kyiv media representatives are hopeful to see the faces of Ukrainian prisoners released from Russian custody. No official information has yet been released on the status on any possible exchange.

Even without official confirmation, reporters are swarming the airport in anticipation.

According to human rights activist and a member of the lawyer’s group representing detained Ukrainians  Nikolai Polozov, “the process is underway.”

The fact that the exchange has begun was also confirmed by UNIAN correspondent Roman Tsymbalyuk in Moscow. He wrote on his Facebook page that two busses with a police escort departed from Lefortovo detention center in Moscow.

According to Ukrainian legislation, direct flights between Ukraine and Russia are prohibited. The only exception is for humanitarian and special diplomatic missions.
