Revenues from Gambling Legalization to Be Spent on Education
The draft state budget for 2020 projects ₴3 billion ( about $122 million) in revenues from the sale of gambling licenses, of which ₴2 billion (about $82 million) it proposes using for an educational program.
“I have already stressed that national lotteries, as well as gambling business in general, are one of the real sources of replenishing the budget. In particular, we are glad that most of the revenues from this activity will be spent on education – ₴2 billion is planned to be allocated for the implementation of the program ‘Efficient School for Better Results,’” Accounting Chamber Chair Valeriy Patskan wrote on Facebook.
On Oct. 18, the Verkhovna Rada registered the draft law legalizing gambling – “On State Regulation of Activities in the Organization and Conduct of Gambling” – developed by the Cabinet of Ministers, as draft law No.2285.
