Robotics Festival in Kyiv

Winners of Olympiad go on to Thailand

Talented kids presented their own hand-made robots at the Ukrainian national Expocentre this weekend. It was part of Kyiv’s Robotics Festival.

Lada and Lera are Olympian contestants from Kyiv. They made a robot designed to transport miniature trees. There ‘trees’ were represented by plastic bricks. Their ‘field’ was one of the competition tables at Ukraine’s Robot Olympiad. The team members were proud of their new robot.

Kids who attended the Olympiad came from nearly two dozen Ukrainian cities. Most of them had taken classes in special schools to learn about robotics but some just learned about them in their public schools.

Andriy and Ivan were in the Junior League of the Olympiad, for the youngest attendees. They got a perfect score in their test round. But it was no wonder. They said they’d practiced back home in Vinnytsia for three years before coming to the Olympiad.

Along with the Olympiad, games and workshops could also be found at the Robotics Festival. Some kids were even spotted assembling a Falcon 9 Rocket out of LEGOs.

The best robot startup ideas at the festival and the winners of the National Robot Olympiad are going on to the World Finals in Thailand.
