The film about Donbas won an American award
The film “The Earth is Blue as an Orange” by Iryna Tsilyk received the Cinema Eye Honors-2021 award in the Spotlight Award category. The award is created in the United States to recognize and honor exemplary skills and innovations in documentary film.

The film tells the story of a family living in the “red zone” of Donbas. Overcoming the daily injuries of living in the frontline, 36-year-old Anna raises four children. But, despite all the difficulties, this family is very friendly and cheerful. Mom and kids have many hobbies, play various musical instruments and even make their own films about their lives during the war.
The premiere of the film took place at the Sundance Film Festival, where the film was awarded the prize for best director in the category of world documentary film. Since then, the film has won more than 20 awards at international film festivals. The film was also included in the list of feature films that were admitted to the 93rd Oscar.
The film was created by the Ukrainian production company Albatros Communicos and the Lithuanian production company Moonmakers with the support of the State Cinema, the Lithuanian Film Center and the IDFA Bertha Fund (Netherlands).
The film was made in 2017-2019 in Krasnohorivka, Avdiivka, Kurakhove, Donetsk region and Kyiv.
Earlier, the winners of the Golden Globe Award 2021 were announced.
It was also reported that the Cabinet of Ministers awarded the Lesya Ukrainka prize for literary and artistic works for children.
