The Ministry of Health is planning to vaccinate 70% of the adult population by the end of the year
By the end of 2021, most of the country’s adult population will be vaccinated against COVID-19. This is provided by the Roadmap for Vaccination of the Ministry of Health and the decree of the President of Ukraine on the National Vaccine Prevention Plan in pursuance of the NSDC decision, which he signed on April 3.
This was announced by the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov during a briefing, the press service of the Ministry of Health informs.
According to him, in order to achieve collective immunity, at least 60% of the total population should be vaccinated.
“The Ministry of Health plans to increase this number and bring it to 70% of all citizens. This requires 2 things – the ability of the medical system to vaccinate and provide the country with vaccines,” Stepanov said.
He assured that the capacity of the Ukrainian system is sufficient to fulfill the vaccination plan. Today, vaccinations are conducted in2 ways – these are mobile teams and vaccination places of family doctors. In total – 11,500 such places all over the country, in each of which up to 40-50 vaccinations per day are possible.
The minister informed that today in the signed and paid contracts Ukraine has 22 million doses of vaccines: 8 million is the COVAX initiative and 14 million under the signed contracts (10 million Novavax, 2 million AstraZeneka (Covishield) and almost 2 million vaccines produced company Sinovac).
