G7 urged Russia to stop provocations on the border with Ukraine
Foreign ministers of the G7 countries said they were concerned about the accumulation of Russian Armed Forces near the Ukrainian border, and called to withdraw the heavy weapons. It was discussed in the communique following the talks in London, UATV informs.
“We call on Russia to stop provocations and reduce tensions, in accordance with international obligations”, –the document notes.
The G7 has also called for the withdrawal of troops from the occupied Crimea and reaffirmed their support for the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine.
“We express our concern over Russia’s actions to block access to parts of the Black Sea, including near the illegally occupied Crimea and the Kerch Strait, which hinders access to Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov. We welcome Ukraine’s restrained position and diplomatic approach in this context”, – the communique says.
The foreign ministers announced their readiness to introduce new sanctions against the Kremlin, the duration of which will depend on Russia’s implementation of the Minsk agreements, and on the situation with Crimea.
The situation in Donbas and the negotiations on peaceful settlement were discussed by head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak with the ambassadors of the G7 countries.
