On July 13, 10 days before the start of the XXXI Olympic Games, the Olympic Village was opened in Tokyo.
The houses for the participants of the Games are located on the shores of Tokyo Bay. The total area is about 44 hectares.
The Olympic Village includes 21 buildings. The athletes will be provided with more than 3 600 rooms for living.
The beds in the athletes’ rooms are made of cardboard, and the mattresses are made of plastic. All of them are suitable for further processing. These beds are capable to hold weight of up to 200 kg.
In accordance with the new protocols developed by the organizing committee of the Games in Tokyo, athletes will come to the village no earlier than 5 days before the start of their competition, and leave within 2 days after the end of the Games.
To prevent the spread of coronavirus, a separate medical unit will operate in the Olympic Village. Athletes take tests daily, wear masks and adhere to all established safety rules during their stay in Tokyo.
