Foreign Ministers of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba and of France Jean-Yves Le Drian held talks by phone. The diplomats discussed the prospects for the Normandy format work at all levels: heads of state and governments, foreign ministers, and advisers to leaders, UA informs this citing the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
The head of the Ukrainian foreign policy office noted that Ukraine appreciates the efforts of France in the frameworks of the Normandy format, which remains the main platform for resolving the armed conflict in Donbas, despite Russia’s provocative behavior.
During the conversation, Jean-Yves Le Drian also explained to Dmytro Kuleba the motives of the recent German-French initiative to restore the dialogue between the European Union and Russia. The French minister stressed that “Paris is in favor of a demanding dialogue in relation to Moscow”.
In turn, Dmytro Kuleba recalled that the European Union suspended summits with Russia in 2014 as a result of Russian aggression, and there is no reason to restore this format of dialogue without constructive steps from the Kremlin.
