Russia will start the withdraw of troops that were conducting exercises near the borders of Ukraine and in the temporarily occupied Crimea to their permanent deployment points from April 23. This was stated by the head of the Russian Defense Ministry Sergei Shoigu, reports UATV with reference to the Russian media.
“I believe that the objectives of the surprise check have been fully achieved. The troops have demonstrated the ability to ensure reliable defense of the country. In this regard, I decided to complete verification activities in the Southern and Western military districts,” Shoigu announced during the meeting in the occupied Crimea.
He assigned the task to the General Staff and the commanders of the troops to plan and begin on April 23 the return of troops to their permanent deployment points.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy offered the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to hold negotiations anywhere in Donbas. The Russian side reported that this proposal had already been reported to Putin.
