US does not intend to weaken or lift sanctions against Russia – Nuland
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba held a telephone conversation with US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland about the details of the talks between Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin in Geneva, UA informs.
In particular, Nuland stated that there can be no agreements on Ukraine without Ukraine in the negotiations between the United States and Russia and any other countries.
Regarding the results of the meeting between Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin in Geneva, she noted that the United States and Russia have great disagreements about Ukraine.
“We made it clear, and President Biden reiterated, that the sanctions that were imposed on Russia because of Ukraine will remain in place and will not be weakened until Russia changes its position on Ukraine”, – Nuland said.
During the talks, Kuleba and Nuland also discussed preparations for the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United States, which is to take place in July. The parties noted the mutual disposition to make it as meaningful and effective as possible.
Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin met in Geneva on June 16. Joe Biden said during a press conference that Washington will continue to support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
