Arseniia Smoliara became the 15 millionth passenger to travel through Boryspil International Airport in 2019. The young traveler was heading to Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He was greeted at the airport by Vladyslav Kryklii, the Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister and Pavlo Riabikinym, Director General of the airport.
In 2018, passenger traffic at the airport was 12.6 million people.
Passenger traffic in Ukraine from January to November 2019 was 22.5 million for all travelers, including the 20.4 million who flew internationally, reports the Infrastructure Ministry.
To further meet the increases in passenger volume and expected growth, the Infrastructure Ministry is seeking to increase the number of low cost airlines that would have access to the Ukrainian market, whether domestic air companies or existing companies based in Europe or elsewhere.
Also, airport reconstruction is planned for Dnipro, Mukachevo and Izmail as well as attracting private investment for the development of regional airports, namely those in Kherson, Cherivtsi and Zaporizhzhia.
