A grenade explosion rocked central Kyiv’s Pushkina Street on Tuesday (Oct. 23) evening, killing two people and injuring another.

According to the national police, the grenade killed a former soldier who had served in the Donbas and a security guard in the office building where the grenade went off. A female received shrapnel wounds and was rushed to the hospital.

The two male victims had apparently been chatting outside of a bar with no signs of an altercation between them when the grenade exploded. Allegedly, the two had been examining the hand grenade before it exploded.

Metro police, a CSI team, and a bomb squad are investigating the explosion.
