Two US Military Patrol Boats Gifted to Ukraine Arrive in Odesa

Future Ukrainian patrol boat crews for the "Sloviansk" and "Starobilsk" patrol boats completed a 10-week training program in the United States

Two military patrol boats, gifted from the United States, arrived in Odesa this morning (Oct.21).

The island-class patrol boats, named “Starobilsk” and “Sloviansk,” were transported aboard the Ocean Freedom cargo ship, Ukrainian military portal reported.

The boats’ future Ukrainian crews recently completed a 10-week training in the United States, reported.

At 8:30 a.m. Ocean Freedom passed the Vorontsov Lighthouse and at 9 a.m. moored at Cabotage Harbor of the Odesa seaport.

The patrol boats were officially gifted to Ukraine by the U.S. Navy on September 27, 2018.

The 16-member crew boats are equipped with advanced navigation and electronic equipment, capable of going nearly 55 kilometers per hour. The boats are each armed with one 25 mm and two 12.7 mm machine guns.
