UAE Embassy in Ukraine Marks ‘Year of Sheikh Zayed’

Ukraine and the UAE have 30-day visa-free regimes

A diplomatic reception in Kyiv brought together a number of diplomats, politicians, and businessmen to celebrate the United Arab Emirates’ creation 47 years ago when its founding father Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan formed a new nation from seven emirates.

“This is the year dedicated to the centenary of the birth of the country’s founder and its first president, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He was an outstanding personality, an outstanding statesman and a wise man, thanks to which the Emirates became a powerful modern state,” Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rozeno said.

This year, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates held the 3rd session of their Joint Committee to enhance bilateral ties. The committee resulted in the signing of several agreements.

“Last year, it was the 25th year of the diplomatic relations. We had a successful visit of his Excellency President Petro Poroshenko to Emirates in November. And we started the visa-free regime the 1st of December 2017,” Najla Al Raees, Second Secretary of UAE Embassy to Ukraine said.

After a memorandum on the visa-free regime was signed, Ukrainians can visit the UAE up to 30 days. The number of direct flights between these countries is currently 36 flights per week between three airlines.

“Our people and government mark this day, celebrating the achievements of our state and its well-being. We would also like to appreciate the high level of relations between Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates. And to thank the Ukrainian people and its leadership for it,” Salem Ahmed Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to Ukraine said.

The next meeting of the UAE-Ukraine Joint Commission, aimed at developing diplomatic relations between the two countries, is planned in Abu Dhabi next year.
