Ukraine Contends to Host FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2021

The Ukrainian Basketball Federation has applied to host the group stage and finals of the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2021, the press service of the Ukrainian Basketball Organization reported.
Cities of Kyiv and Zaporizhia suggested their spaces for the holding of the Basketball Championship events.
“In this regard, the federation has secured the necessary support of the state and local authorities in Kyiv and Zaporizhya. These cities may be hosts of the competition, involving the strongest women teams of our continent. If FIBA-Europe is satisfied with the application, Ukraine will have the opportunity to host the senior European championship for the first time. Ukraine’s application has already been actively supported by the Swedish Basketball Federation, part of the group tournament can be held in Stockholm,” the report says.
Spain and France, as well as Belgium and Portugal, are also among contenders for the holding of the event.
The decision to hold the Women EuroBasket-2021 will be approved by FIBA-Europe in June this year. This is not only an important step for the image of Ukraine but also a great opportunity to show its openness, readiness to host large-scale competitions and revive the famous traditions of women basketball.
