Representatives of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s team will arrive in Washington this week to prepare for a meeting between the leaders of the two countries, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly has said.
“We are working on this. You will see that President Zelensky’s representatives will come [to Washington] this week, and we will work together to determine the date of the visit and fill it with content. I think this is a matter of the next few months,” the diplomat told the Ukrainian Service of the Voice of America on Monday, July 8, 2019, reports Ukrinform.
According to a Ukrinform correspondent, Chaly added that “the visit should be fully prepared in August-September.”
Chaly rejected the assumptions made recently in Ukraine that the United States is allegedly waiting for Zelensky, but the president “does not come because he cannot find the time.”
“Neither President Zelensky, nor Ukraine nor the United States needs a picture, just a picture of the two presidents. They will find chemistry among themselves. They have already found this chemistry of relations in their phone conversations. Another thing is what content will be like,” the ambassador said.
The diplomat added that intensive work was being done at the Ukrainian Embassy to prepare the content of the meeting of the two presidents.
