Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov, on the International Day of People with Disabilities, called on MPs to make every effort to create equal rights for all citizens.
“The International Day of People with Disabilities is marked on December 3 […] I think it would be right for each of you, both as a citizen and an MP within your powers, to make every effort to create truly equal rights for all citizens of Ukraine,” Razumkov said at a parliament meeting, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
Also, the government will allocate an additional UAH 786 million, around $31.45 million, for technical rehabilitation equipment for people with disabilities.
Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk posted this on his Facebook, reports Ukrinform.
“For the first time in many years, we will fully provide people with disabilities with rehabilitation equipment (wheelchairs, prostheses, and orthoses). We are allocating an additional UAH 786 million to already provided UAH 1 billion. These funds will be spent on the production of about 250,000 items for adults and children,” Honcharuk wrote.
According to him, regional social security offices receive funds late due to changes in funding procedures.
“This situation is not acceptable. The funds should be in the regions as soon as possible,” he added.
