Plans for the development of hydrogen energy in Ukraine were discussed by representatives of the Ukrainian delegation together with international associations and companies at Hydrogen + Fuel Cells Europe Conference which recently ended in Hanover, Germany. This was reported by the Ukraine Government Portal.
Ukraine has seen an accelerated pace of installation of renewable energy facilities. In the first quarter of this year, facilities with more than 860 MW capacity were put in operation. This is greater than amount install in all of 2018.
“It is just hydrogen energy sector that can play a key role in the accumulation and balancing of the power grid, including covering peak loads,” said the head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Serhii Savchuk.
Ukraine is actively supported by European partners on this path.
The Ukrainian Hydrogen Council, the German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (DWV), European Hydrogen Association (EHA) and the Latvian Hydrogen Association (H2LV) signed a Memorandum of Partnership in Hydrogen Energy Sector at the conference.
“I believe that cooperation with European partners will allow to improve and introduce the effective roadmap for the development of hydrogen energy in Ukraine, the draft of which has already been prepared by the Ukrainian Hydrogen Council and the Institute of Renewable Energy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine,” Savchuk said.
