The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, together with the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine Roman Vashchuk, agreed that the two countries will work together to develop new training for rural police officers.

“With Canadian Ambassador Rashid Vashchuk, we agreed to launch the next phase of the MIA reform: the training of rural police officers, with the support of Canadian experts within the International Technical Assistance Program. We doubled the number of trainers,” Avakov said.

On August 4, 2015, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed the National Police Law aimed at eradicating corruption and lawlessness amongst police and judges.
